The Chakras and Their Role in Reiki
Energy is everywhere. Energy is everything. Energy is everyone. The world around us is constantly moving in ways that are impossible to detect with the naked eye. With training from a Reiki Master or through a course like that found at Chikara-Reiki-Do, you can learn how to best take care of your various chakras.
What are Chakras?
The word “chakra” is Sankrit for “wheel” or “disk.” Chakras are considered the wheels of energy within the body. Imagine a swirling disk of energy. That is vital energy, the coming together of the physical and the non-physical.
Chakras are located at the vital organs and large clusters of nerves. Tending to your chakras can help you heal. And this isn’t just a physical healing, either. It is also mental, emotional, and spiritual healing. Within the human body there are seven main chakras. Each of them have their own symbol, meaning, and purpose.
If one of your chakras somehow becomes blocked, that is when the trouble happens. That is when you are most likely to feel down, maybe even physically ill. Just like obstructing an electrical circuit will result in a reduction of power, an obstruction of your chakras will result in a reduction of energy.
Think of your refrigerator during a brown out. If your fridge isn’t getting the power it needs, the internal systems aren’t going to work properly. It still works, but it is at a diminished capacity. Over an extended period of time, that lack of full power can damage the contents of the fridge.
The same idea can apply to your body.
What are the Different Chakras?
As mentioned previously, there are seven primary chakras.
The First Chakra
The first chakra is the Root Chakra. It is located around, approximately, your tail bone. It represents your ability to be grounded, to have a foundation, to have a sense of security. Your foundation is made up of your basic needs. This includes such things as food, shelter, and resources (like money). It is represented by the color red.
The Second Chakra
The second chakra is the Sacral Chakra. It is located in the abdomen, just below your navel. It represents your pleasure. Now this covers a range of things, from creativity to sexuality. It is your chakra of comfort and well-being. It is represented by the color orange.
The Third Chakra
The third chakra is the Solar Plexus Chakra. It is located in the area of your stomach. It represents your confidence, your belief in yourself and your abilities. This chakra is your self-value and self-esteem. It is represented by the color yellow.
The Fourth Chakra
The fourth chakra is the Heart Chakra. As the name suggests, it is located in the area of your heart. This chakra represents many of the things we associate with the heart: joy, love, a sense of peace. It also represents the quality of these things, as well as future potential. It is represented by the color green.
The Fifth Chakra
The fifth chakra is the Throat Chakra. Again, this chakra is well named. It is located in your throat. It represents expression and communication. This is expression as in of feelings and truths. It is represented by the color blue.
The Sixth Chakra
The sixth chakra is the Third Eye Chakra, or Brow Chakra. It is located in the middle of your forehead. It represents thought and focus, especially when it comes to the big picture. Intuition, imagination, and wisdom are also key elements of this chakra. It is represented by the colors purple or indigo.
The Seventh Chakra
The seventh chakra is the Crown Chakra, so called because it is locate on the top of your head. It represents your connection to spirituality and ability to feel pure bliss. Beauty, both inside and out, are also affected by this chakra. It is represented by the colors white or violet.
How Reiki Affects Chakras
Reiki is a healing practice that focuses on the chakra of your body. It helps clear blocks in your energy. If one of your chakras is more blocked than the others, more time can be spend one this particular chakra during a session of Reiki. Having clear chakras can help boost your immune system, which helps you stay healthy or get over an illness faster.
Conclusion
The human body is far more complex than many people realize. It is more than just the physical self. It a compilation of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual self.
Each of these four require their own care. It isn’t good to just take care of one or two and ignore the rest. Doing this can actually be detrimental to your immune system. To learn more about the importance of Reiki in your life’s routine, consider checking out Chikara-Reiki-Do.
