Reiki Meditation Techniques
Like people, Reiki is much more complex than you might initially think. It tends to be more than just the physical, delving also into the mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Reiki is a way that you can reduce stress in your body and find your sense of relaxation. This helps promote healthiness, going even so far as to increase your body’s natural immune system. Through courses like the one offered by Chikara-Reiki-Do you can become aware of these complexities.
This will include topics such as the role of chakras, symbolism, and the different techniques used when practicing Reiki. Following is a brief overview of some of these techniques that you will come to learn if you decide to undergo the journey of learning how to practice Reiki.
Kenyoku Hô
Kenyoku Hô is a cleansing technique. It is ideal to do this any time you are doing any amount of Reiki. This technique will cleanse you of any low-vibration energy.
With this technique, you may find that the motions remind you of washing off in a bathtub. In a way, this is true, minus the tub and the water and the soap. Instead of your skin, you are cleaning your energy:
- You will start by using your right hand and placing it flat on the front of your left shoulder and along your collarbone.
- In a straight line, drag your hand from your shoulder to the top of your sternum
- Continue this motion until your right hand is resting on your right hip.
- Repeat this action, this time starting with your left hand on your right shoulder and moving down to your left hip.
- After this first part, you will focus on your arms, again starting with your right hand on your left shoulder.
- Lift your left arm, fingers together but not tense.
- Drag your right hand down your left arm until you reach your fingertips.
- Repeat with your other side.
Jôshin Kokyû Hô
Jôshin Kokyû Hô focuses the mind through meditation and breathing. As well as strengthening your connection to Reiki healing, this method also helps reduce stress and purify the body and mind.
Before beginning, it is important to know that the Tanden is located about an inch below your navel (aka your belly button).
- Begin by finding a comfortable position, either sitting or standing. Either is fine.
- Taking slow, deep breaths, allow the tension to fall from your body.
- Close your eyes completely or until they are barely open.
- Tent your fingertips so your hands created a tight inverted “V.”
- Keeping this form, bring your hands up to your heart.
- Still holding this form with your hands, lift your arms up as high as you can.
- In a slow, smooth motion, lower your hand to you lap. Your palms should now be up.
- Your hands should be very relaxed at this point.
- Focusing on your Tanden, listen to your breaths as you breathe in and then out again.
- Continue to do this, but also visualize a white light entering your body with each breath.
- This white light travels from your head, down your center, and into the Tanden.
- As you exhale, visualize this white light be pushed throughout the rest of your body and beyond.
- Continue meditating as long as you desire.
Seishin Toitsu Ho
Seishin Toitsu Ho is used as a way to bring unity to mind meditation and is a great way to encourage self-development. It can help heighten your sensitivity to energy.
Here is how to do this meditation technique:
- Find a comfortable sitting position.
- Either close your eyes completely or until they are just barely open.
- Tents your fingers so your hands form a tight inverted “V.”
- Bring your tented fingers up over your heart.
- As you inhale, visualize light entering your body, down your center, and into your Tanden.
- Between breaths, visualize the light spreading throughout your entire body.
- As you exhale, visualize that light flowing back out of your body through your hands.
Conclusion
Practicing Reiki can open up a trove of knowledge that can help you live a much more calm and relaxing life. It can help you heal your wounds, even if those wounds were not made on your physical form. Reiki heals more than just the body. It heals the mind, emotions, and spirituality.
